Greetings
Welcome to a Special March Newsletter from ISSA PHYSICAL THERAPY & WELLNESS
I hope that you and your family are well. In recent days, we have all seen a new reality regarding the concerns about the COVID-19 virus.
At ISSA PHYSICAL THERAPY & WELLNESS, your health and well-being is my top priority.
I am monitoring recommendations from the health authorities and I am open to providing the personal care needed for our patients' treatment and journey to recovery. There has been a lot of confusion in the community about what is deemed as an essential business and a non-essential business. According to the federal government's, Guidance on the Essential Critical Infrastructure Workforce, physical therapists are considered essential (I will send out more information on this in a separate email).
I would like to share some details on the standard daily practices which I have always had at our clinics in addition to the extra steps I am taking in light of the virus.
Standard practices at ISSA PHYSICAL THERAPY & WELLNESS include:
- All of the linens are single-use and are cleaned using detergent on high heat
- Wiping down of all treatment beds and equipment after each use with hospital grade disinfectant
- My clinics are fully equipped with handwashing stations as well as hand sanitizer
- Cleaning high-touch areas with medical-grade disinfectant (e.g., door handles, common area surfaces, railings, chairs, light switches, payment machines, exercise equipment, and treatment tools)
- I am washing my hands thoroughly between treating each patient
Additional steps I am taking now include:
- Completion of a Health Pre-Screening with every patient before each visit.
- I am canceling or rescheduling visits for patients who fall in the high-risk category, those who are currently feeling sick, those who have had signs & symptoms in the past 14 days and for those who are more likely to have come in contact with someone who has the virus in the last 14 days.
- Increasing the frequency of cleaning all items listed above
- Monitoring information from our health authorities to adjust our plan based on recommendations
I know that the COVID-19 virus can be alarming and a bit scary. At ISSA PHYSICAL THERAPY & WELLNESS, I see this as a partnership journey with you as we make it a priority to take care of each other.
The steps that I have put in place are due both to the love for our patients, our families, and our community.
We can all play a role in this joint battle with the virus.
I respectfully request that our patients:
- Wash their hands prior to entering our clinics and use hand sanitizer in the waiting areas
- Reschedule appointments for a future date if you are feeling unwell, have traveled by air in the previous 14 days or have had close contact with someone who has traveled by air in the previous 14 days
Below are some tips and links to some helpful information we can all follow in our daily lives.
At ISSA PHYSICAL THERAPY & WELLNESS, the health of our patients is the cornerstone of why we exist. I look forward to continuing to be a partner in your health and wellness journey and taking steps with our patients to create a healthy and sanitary environment.

Know How It Spreads
There is currently no vaccine to prevent coronavirus disease in 2019 (COVID-19).
The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus.
The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person.
- Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet)
- Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
- These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.
