Maintaining good posture


While carrying out activities such as daily chores, working, running errands, or taking care of children, maintaining good posture may be the last thing on a person’s mind. However, neglecting your posture could lead to health problems over time.

There are specific muscles in the body, known as postural muscles that help keep the body upright. Bad posture may lead to overstretching of some muscles, while others may become stiff and tight.

When standing, bending, or lifting objects improperly or slouching while sitting, postural muscles begin to overwork.  If this happens, muscle pain and joint damage may develop. Research shows that a large number of people suffer from back pain as a result of bad posture.

We are very excited to introduce you to our new receptionist, Jessica Rafeedie, who started in May and our new full-time PT, Erika Mesenbourg, who will start June 8th.


 

Jessica Rafeedie

Jessica graduated from Mount Saint Mary’s University in 2009 with a BS in Psychology and is working towards her MA in elementary/special education. She spends most of her time outside of the office playing with her two children and running.

Erika comes to us with 11 years of experience in a outpatient orthopedics setting. Her manual therapy skills, clinical experience and passion for helping others are the qualities that we look for in a therapist that is taking care of our patients. Check out her bio!
